Selfie is a fad these days. These self-portrait photographs have been all over the social media for quite some time and I wouldn’t be surprised if I see one on a latte. Well, I am, even impressed actually.
Convenience stores in Taiwan have these machines that let people print their selfies on coffee and drink it. This latte art innovation is an idea of a coffee company Let’s Café, which provides vending stalls and kiosks to marts across the country.
So how does it work?
Actually, any photo from a customer’s smartphone can be printed. After the coffe-making process, the photo is sent to a computerized printer head which then prints the image on the foam using an edible powder made of cocoa.
Here’s a video released by the company to know more.

Talented latte artist might feel threatened by this innovation, but I don’t think they should be. Some people would sometimes prefer the more natural ones especially when it comes to food and beverages. And just like in any form of art, traditional never really goes out of the scene. However, stepping it up a bit might help boost sales for traditional latte artists, a family portrait on a coffee maybe?
